Four young musical talents who, since graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire have established careers in performing, leading, composing, teaching in a range of musical styles.


This new collaborative project allows each band member to feature as a leader. The vibe of the band is variety, groove, creativity and togetherness, using many musical influences. They feature fresh takes on jazz standards and new compositions, to create a flowing contemporary sound.


Ben is the regular bass player with the Elliott Sansom Trio and has gigged with Stan Sultzman and Greg Abate, as well as playing with the Birmingham Philharmonic, Birmingham Sinfonia and Kimichi Orchestra. He leads his own big band, Stepmother Jag.


Nathan won the Tony Levin drum prize at Birmingham Conservatoire and tours Europe with contemporary groups. He plays regularly with Elliott’s trio, as well as at Stepmother Jag and the Prometheus project.


Elliott - a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician and the Pizza Express jazz awards. He tours regularly with his own trio and the Clark Tracey Quintet. His special interest is the harmonic and rhythmic language shared by jazz and classical music.


Chris is an in-demand saxophonist playing with Hansu-Tori, Hans Koller, Andrew Bain and the Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, as well as his own projects YBY Trio, Orbits and Four Corners.
